How do I know if I need to change my automatic transmission fluid in my car?

First, if you notice that your transmission is slipping into gear or is getting stuck, before you take it in you can check your transmission fluid in your car to be sure that the transmission fluid is at an acceptable level. If you find that your transmission fluid is low by looking at the dipstick then you should add transmission fluid to the transmission fluid compartment so you could be sure that you are running your car with the best possible situation for your transmission to be in good running order. If you find that you need to change or replace your transmission fluid then you will have to locate your owner’s manual or a car manual for your specific type of car to see where you can drain the transmission fluid from your engine. After you drain all the transmission fluid from your engine you will have to decide what type of transmission fluid is best for your car. Once you buy the transmission fluid you will have to replace the seal on the transmission compartment so the new fluid you add does not automatically run out of the car. After you add the new fluid you should take your car for a ride and decide whether or not that fixed the problem with your transmission. It is recommend that you change your transmission fluid every six to ten thousand miles.
